Hi everyone and I am back with another adventure. Over the last several months, a lot of people have been documenting the rate of progress at Burnside Av with the renovations taking place. Originally the project was supposed to be complete on the northbound platform in September, but due to them having delays with putting the platform trusses into place, the predicted completion date is projected to be sometime in December. Originally, I didn’t understand why they had to tear the platform down because when they installed elevators at Parkchester, the platforms never closed and Burnside has a similar layout to Parkchester. But when everyone explained to me that the configuration of the ADA entrance was going to be completely new, it made sense. And since Burnside stood over a busy street while Parkchester stood over a circle, it made me realize that the best course of action was to not close the street and not create a safety hazard on the platform. The supports also had to be repaired because there was a lot of rust, kind of like Woodside-61 St on the (7) Line. It is great to see a lot of progress being done and I look forward to seeing what the new entrance layout will look like in the coming year.
