*MexiCali Biennial: Art, Actions, Exchanges Since 2006 | Mini-Symposium*
Join the MexiCali Biennial for a special two-panel symposium celebrating the publication of *MexiCali Biennial: Art, Actions, Exchanges Since 2006*, a retrospective catalog documenting twenty years of artistic experimentation, cultural exchange, and collaboration across the U.S.–Mexico borderlands.
Featuring contributing scholars, curators, and artists, the symposium examines the history, impact, and future of the MexiCali Biennial and contemporary borderlands art.
The first panel, **Border (Re)Historicizations**, explores the Biennial's legacy and the evolving field of border art. The second, **Artist-Curator Relationality In/Out of Museums**, considers collaborations between artists and curators, including the opportunities and challenges of presenting art within museums and along the physical border.
Together, these conversations address site-specificity, archives, surveillance, border interventions, artistic collaboration, and the writing of border art histories.
Presented in conjunction with *Here & There, Then & Now*, the MexiCali Biennial's twentieth-anniversary exhibition, this symposium also marks the final scheduled public program at the MXCL BNL LAB in Whittier, California.
