In 1940, Jewish art dealer Jacques Goudstikker died fleeing the Nazis, carrying a small black notebook that listed every painting he owned. Hermann Göring and his associates seized the collection, and more than 800 works are still missing today. In just 13 months, four of those paintings resurfaced in very different places: a famous Dutch museum, a pile of rubbish on an Amsterdam street, the hallway of a Dutch SS commander’s descendants, and the living room of a Nazi official’s daughter in Argentina. This video tells the true story of how each was identified, what the law could and couldn’t do, and where they are now.
