Medication management can be challenging for elderly users, especially when they forget their medication schedules or accidentally miss a dose. Conventional medication management relies heavily on manual reminders, which can be unreliable and may lead to missed or incorrect medication intake. At the same time, caregivers may have limited ability to monitor whether medication has been taken on time. To address these challenges, the MediAlert system was developed. This smart medication management innovation combines automation, embedded systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology to provide a more reliable and convenient medication experience. Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), the project focuses on smart healthcare and assistive technology. It uses scheduled medication reminders and an automated dispensing mechanism to assist users in taking the correct medication at the right time. Ultimately, MediAlert reduces the risk of missed medication while enabling remote monitoring to improve medication management and user safety.
