Reno 2007 Unlimited Qualifying "The Big Blocks"

Reno 2007 saw 3 racers compete with the largest piston aero engines to ever turn the pylons. Precious Metal, the highly modified P-51D Mustang was powered by the Rolls Royce Griffon engine, the big brother to the famous Rolls Royce Merlin. The Griffon that powered Precious Metal was from an Avro Shackleton, a British long-range maritime patrol aircraft. The mighty Hawker Sea Fury T.20 'Dreadnought', and the Goodyear F2G Super Corsair are powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-4360 Wasp Major, a 28 cylinder monster that can put out well over 4,000hp.
