In this new 4K video from LuiLala, we explore Alizai, locally known as Malilizi, one of the old neighbourhoods of Kandahar City, Afghanistan.
This vlog begins at the entrance to Malilizi, directly opposite the Department of Information and Culture. From there, our reporter walks through the neighbourhood, exploring its main streets, narrow alleyways, residential areas, and the different routes connecting Malilizi to the surrounding parts of Kandahar.
Throughout the video, we take you through all the alleyways of Malilizi, showing the traditional houses, local streets, residents, and everyday life of this old neighbourhood. We also explore its different entrances and exits, including the routes leading towards Imam Bara Street, Sarak-e Naw, and Lab-e Patab.
Along the way, our reporter shares information about the neighbourhood, its old streets, how the area has changed over the years, and the memories that remain among its long-time residents.
One of the most interesting parts of this video is our interview with Gulab Shah, one of the elderly residents of Malilizi. He shares his memories of the neighbourhood, describes the changes he has witnessed over the years, and recalls what life in Malilizi was like in the past.
We also speak with Mohammad Sharif, another long-time resident of the neighbourhood, who tells us about the well-known people who once lived in Malilizi and shares interesting memories and information about the area's past.
Through these two interviews and our walk through the neighbourhood, we discover how Malilizi has developed over time, learn about some of its former residents, and explore the streets and alleyways that have been part of local life for generations.
Towards the end of the video, we show the different routes leading out of Malilizi, including the exits towards Imam Bara Street and Sarak-e Naw, giving viewers a better understanding of how this neighbourhood connects with other historic parts of Kandahar City.
This video offers a closer look at the history, memories, people, traditional streets, and everyday life of Malilizi, preserving the stories and local knowledge of a neighbourhood that holds many memories for the people of Kandahar.
If you are from Malilizi, grew up in this neighbourhood, remember its streets from the past, or know more about its history and former residents, we would love to hear your memories and information in the comments.
