What if you could clone yourself — and every copy did exactly what you told it to? Stelvo can pull a second body out of thin air. The copies never argue, never have plans of their own, never want his life. They are him. There is only one problem: the body copied, the mind didn't. One mind, split across every body he makes. Two bodies, half a mind each. Forty bodies, and nobody's home. He uses it for everything. A van unloaded before midnight. Four breakfasts before eight. Six delivery routes in one Tuesday. A neighbour's roof rebuilt in an afternoon by eleven men with the same face. Then a flood takes out fourteen houses, a charity livestream puts forty of him on camera in front of forty thousand people, and a soaked brick wall comes down on a volunteer's legs. Saving her takes the one thing a man with forty bodies should never do. Along the way, the real science: why four pieces of information in your head is not the same as four minds, why the UN General Assembly voted on human cloning in 2005, why Dolly the sheep took 277 attempts, why identical twins don't even share fingerprints, and what rescuers actually do when somebody is pinned under something heavy. How many of you would you run at once? Put the number in the comments. #WhatIf #CloneYourself #Stelvo #WhatIfStory #ScienceStory
