Arrested in Paris for Street-Photography

🧐 Stopped by the police today while shooting street photos outside Hermès. They thought I might be a creep, because I was taking pictures of women mainly. I explained I was a street/fashion photographer and my wife was nearby shopping. I showed them my work. To which the person asked: “Street photographer? What’s that?” I answered in 3 words: INSTANT – AESTHETICS – STORYTELLING then added A way of capturing unplanned moments in public—where reality, coincidence, and emotion meet. Poetry through images I try to create. I might take 500 shots and use 3... it's complicated. That day, it was not a good day. There were none to save, but I decided to show them anyway... After looking at the back of my camera (that’s why i préfère analogue) ; they asked me if people ever said something to me about doing that. I answered yes, and when they ask to delete, I delete….and move on. I make Art, because it's my passion. Not my job, even though I am a professional photographer They let me go in the end. Street photography today?Not just seeing… explaining why you see. Which come to beg the question: What is it that makes a #streetphotography #photo good or bad?
