VAN LIFE DENMARK Oldest Town, Prettiest Street, Largest Beach: Tønder, Ribe, Rømø (Jutland)

Welcome to this start of Scandinavian/Nordic road trip. We spend 5-weeks and at least 3,000-kilometers in our camper van on our Nordic Road Trip where we travel through Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We are Martin and Michelle, and we're taking our VW camper van across Scandinavia to show you the stunning landscapes, beautiful towns, off-grid park ups, and exactly what it costs. In this first episode, we kick things off in southern Jutland. We explore the oldest market town of Tønder (the oldest in Denmark!), hunt down a permanent Christmas room in a 1600s pharmacy, and sample Denmark's best local pastries and hot dogs. Then, the unpredictable Scandinavian weather catches up with us. We head to Ribe to shelter from torrential rain inside a Viking Museum before driving out onto Rømø Island—home to one of the widest, most spectacular drive-on beaches we have ever seen! We also share a look inside our packed van cupboards, discuss supermarket prices compared to the UK, and run into a stressful mechanical issue with our VW pop-top roof.
