This Zeekr 7X had been in its owner’s hands for less than two months and had traveled just over 1,864 miles when everything went wrong. While driving on the highway, the nearly new electric SUV rear-ended a large truck, causing severe front-end damage. The hood was destroyed, the front panels were beyond repair, and the electric drive unit was heavily damaged. The insurance company eventually declared the vehicle a total loss. But there was one huge reason not to give up. Our inspection found that the high-voltage battery pack remained intact and could potentially be reused. That meant this nearly new EV still had a valuable foundation underneath the damaged body.
