How Spirit Halloween Lives Off Dead Stores

Every fall, Spirit Halloween moves into more than 1,500 dead stores across the US and Canada: an old Rite Aid, an old Joann, a former Party City. By November, most of them are gone. So how does a store that vanishes every year keep getting bigger, and why do landlords keep saying yes? We turn a real Spirit lease offer inside out (a former bookstore in Redding, California, 2024), follow the 42 weeks of the year you never see, and trace the skeletons on the shelves back to factories in China, through the 2025 tariffs, and on to Vietnam. Chapters 0:00 Who used to live here? 2:38 Why rent a store for 10 weeks? 5:19 What does Spirit do the other 42 weeks? 7:39 Where do the skeletons come from? 10:16 What happens on November 2?
