2026 Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race | Stage 2 Promise Land Route

If Stage 1 was a wake-up call, Stage 2 is where things really start to stack up. Riders roll out on 280 with a police escort into Turkey Pen and get straight to work, climbing up Mullinax before settling into the chunky, rooty, half track (not single track) of Squirrel Gap. From there, it’s a fast and flowing stretch along South Mills River, a good place to gather yourself, but don’t get too comfortable... The course turns upward again with the grind up Buckhorn Gap, setting the tone for the final test: the legendary Black Mountain hike-a-bike climb. Long, steep, and relentless, it’s the kind of effort that defines the day and reshuffles the field before the finish. A big climb meant a huge final descent coming straight into the finish line.
