Wandering-Days Out, Episode 9, The £1.50 journey on the Settle and Carlisle Line

Hello everybody, welcome to another video after a nearly 4-week break. This time, I’m heading over to the Settle and Carlisle Line for the second time this year as I travel on a Northern train for £1.50. Yes, you read that correctly, Northern were briefly selling tickets for £1.50 on certain services on certain days in celebration of the line turning 150 years old! We made our way down to Leeds from Durham, headed along the line to Carlisle and had just under 5 hours before our return train. This was the 18:24 train (the one I had actually got the £1.50 ticket on). So I headed down to Lancaster for a little while (originally I wanted to visit Glasgow briefly but the explanation as to why I didn’t can be found somewhere in the video if you look and listen hard enough) and did some trainspotting. Then it was back up to Carlisle for a tad more trainspotting before heading down to Leeds again on the aforementioned Northern service. Finally, a train to York, a change there and a train from there to Durham meant I was back at Durham just after 11pm. It was great to buy that ticket and also to ride Avanti West Coast again, albeit this time along the actual mainliner rather than a diversionary route, which was my first time crossing the new Clifton Bridge since it was replaced at the beginning of the year.
