It’s always nice to welcome another American Flyer loco to the Port Grace and Barnstable line (which, for the record, is located 3,400 kilometres or 2,100 miles west of the sunny shores of Lake Ontario). I found this one on ebay. Looked okay and the listing said it was working (I knew it wouldn't be after shipping – kind of a Flyer law of nature). But it looked cool so in went my offer. Which was accepted! Was a very good deal no matter what the condition, and the vendor was in Ontario Canada so shipping cost to the Asylum here on the other side of the country was reasonable. And, well, good to support a fellow Canadian in these rather challenging times. Anyway, in this video my primary mission is to get it running (yes, as predicted, it was dead on arrival). Some of the cosmetics and details will wait until later. I didn't do a full motor service this time because it's still summer and who needs the stress. I probably will at some point, which will no doubt result in smoother performance. As it is, after my less-invasive service, it's running like a Flyer should. Fast and fun. Hope you enjoy the maintenance journey, and the short running session at the end. Thanks to the folks who make their music and sounds available through pixabay.com, including: 331 Music for 'Good Plan" https://pixabay.com/users/331music-40... and the freesound community for some of the sound effects. And thank YOU for enduring another visit to the Train Asylum! Cheers, Paul
