Eileen Wang was the mayor of Arcadia, California. According to her own plea agreement, before she took office she was taking directions from Chinese government officials, posting their content on a website that looked like local news for Chinese Americans, and reporting back how many people read it. One message to a Chinese official ended with "Thank you leader." The man who ran her campaign, her former fiance Mike Sun, is serving four years in federal prison as an illegal agent of China. Wang pleaded guilty, resigned as mayor, and faces up to 10 years at sentencing.
