298: Blackstone Edge and Reservoirs (South Pennines 2026)

SOUTH PENNINES WALK FEATURING BLACKSTONE EDGE AND RESERVOIRS "Blackstone Edge and Reservoirs” Filmed 25th May 2026 Post-production completed 4th June 2026 I return to the South Pennines in the first of four further films in the area, all shot during the last week of May 2026. To make this next group of films in the South Pennines, I stayed for a few nights in the same Premier Inn in Rochdale, in which I had previously stayed nearly two months earlier during the 2026 Easter holidays. I had already booked this accommodation well in advance, at the same time I had booked my Easter stay. Due to the heat wave on the day of filming of this walk, I decided to make a very early start before it got too hot, although it didn’t turn out too badly in the end. I start and end at the White House Inn, long a refuge on the windy heights of my route, which passes canal-feeder reservoirs, climbs a packhorse road onto Blackstone Edge, before a wonderful Roman road takes me back to the start. I also take a detour to visit a well-known landmark on the Pennine Way. Filmed in the South Pennines in the counties of Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.
