The Black Hills of South Dakota completely exceeded our expectations! 🤩 After exploring the Badlands, we spent three unforgettable days discovering some of the most beautiful places in South Dakota. From the iconic faces of Mount Rushmore to the breathtaking curves of Iron Mountain Road, the granite spires along Needles Highway, the incredible wildlife in Custer State Park, and miles of scenic UTV/side-by-side trails, this quickly became one of our favorite stops on our cross-country RV adventure. We stayed at Rafter J Bar Ranch near Hill City, South Dakota, one of the best campgrounds we've found in the Black Hills. It's perfectly located for exploring Mount Rushmore, Custer State Park, Needles Highway, Sylvan Lake, and everything else the area has to offer.
