“The Least of These” is a song about something God taught me when I was only 15 years old—a lesson I have never forgotten. As a 15-year-old boy, I prayed what I now recognize was a selfish prayer. We were preparing to take three Arabian horses to our very first Arabian horse show, and I asked God for one thing: “Lord, please let one of our three horses come home a champion.” It wasn't some great spiritual request. I simply wanted one of our horses to win. But God was about to use that prayer to teach me something about Himself. We took three Arabians to the show: Julizon, Tikies Princess, and Ti-Eyma. From my perspective, we had several opportunities for my prayer to be answered. Then, one by one, those opportunities disappeared. Julizon was unable to compete because of an injured leg. Tikies Princess had a young foal, and we decided her responsibility as a mother came first. That left only Ti-Eyma. Looking back, the experience reminds me of Gideon in Judges 7. God kept reducing Gideon's army until there could be no question where the victory came from. In my little 15-year-old world, it seemed as though God was doing something similar with our horses. Three became two. Two became one. And the one remaining was Ti-Eyma. The show continued throughout the day and into the night. Ti-Eyma's class was the very last class of the show. After all that waiting, there was only one opportunity left for the prayer of a 15-year-old boy to be answered. And then God answered it. Ti-Eyma became a champion. But God wasn't finished. The Arabian native costume she wore had been designed by my father and made by my mother. Through Ti-Eyma's victory, their work was recognized as well. That night, what I had asked God for became something much greater than I had imagined. Ti-Eyma became a champion. My father became a champion costume designer. My mother became a champion costume maker. Three champions at one time. I had asked God for one. I believe God answered that selfish prayer because He wanted to teach a 15-year-old boy a lesson he would remember for the rest of his life: God cares even about the little things. It wasn't ultimately about ribbons, horses, costumes, or championships. It was about learning something about the God I was praying to. God could take what appeared to be the least likely remaining possibility and use it to accomplish far more than I had asked. That's the heart behind “The Least of These.” “You choose the least of these to show Your glory, You lift the humble heart to tell Your story.” Whenever I remember that night, my heart still says: Thank You, Lord. Thank You for showing a 15-year-old boy that You care even about the little things. You are Lord of all. 🎵 The Least of These 🎙️ by I Am Heavenbound #TheLeastOfThese #IAmHeavenbound #Gideon #Judges7 #ArabianHorses #ArabianHorse #ChristianTestimony #AnsweredPrayer #GodCares #GodCaresAboutTheLittleThings #FaithOverFear #FearThouNot #PerfectPeace #Anxiety #ChristianEncouragement #ChristianMusic #SouthernGospel #GospelMusic #KingJamesBible #KJV #GodsPromises #TrustGod #JesusChrist #CastingAllYourCare #Isaiah4110 #Isaiah263 #christiananxiety #christiandepression #christianbipolar
