Seven years in Japan has taught me that working abroad is about much more than earning money. In this quiet day at home, I went plant shopping, cleaned my balcony, removed my old plants, and planted strawberries, broccoli, and cabbage. But behind this simple day is a much bigger story about being a mother, working overseas, and choosing what I believe is best for my children’s future. I came to Japan in 2019, during the beginning of the pandemic. Work was difficult, I had debts from coming here, and I still had children back home who depended on me. Seven years later, I still don’t have everything figured out. But I keep going because I know what it feels like to grow up without having much. I may not have much to leave behind for my children, but I can give them an education—and hopefully, the freedom to choose their own future. If you’re new here, I’m Jessa Marie, a Filipina mom of two living and working in Japan. 🤍 I share quiet, honest glimpses of my everyday life—from working in Japan and simple meals to grocery trips, plant care, home routines, and the realities of being a mother living far from her children. If you enjoy peaceful Japan vlogs with real-life stories, I’d love to have you here.
