------- You're on a plane at speed down the runway about to take off, and all of a sudden you're thrown forward in your seat. You feel tremendous braking, lots of engine noise, and the aircraft comes to a dramatic stop! The pilots have decided to stop the takeoff. A rejected take-off can take everyone by surprise, but your pilots are ready for it long before you ever board. In this video I explain what a rejected take-off actually is, how extremely rare they are, what can cause one, what happens in those few seconds on the flight deck, and why you are always safe when we make that call. It can feel dramatic from your seat, the sudden slowing, the noise, and the pause on the runway, but it is one of the most practiced decisions in all of flying. We train for it again and again, so if it happens for real, it is calm, deliberate, and controlled. I take a complex aviation subject and make it simple and relatable, so it becomes one less thing to worry about on your next flight. Today I am in Orlando, Florida, chatting to you the way I would to a friend on a video call, answering another question nervous flyers ask me all the time.
