How This Spider Uses Its Web to Hear

What looks like a simple prey trap can also act as part of a sensory system. In experiments on the orb-weaving spider Larinioides sclopetarius, researchers found that airborne sound can move the web, and the spider can respond to those vibrations through its legs.
