Riding Vintage Steam on Belgium's Three Valleys Railway

Explore one of Belgium's most charming heritage railways with the romance of steam, off the beaten path in the woods of Wallonia. The Three Valleys Steam Railway, or Chemin de Fer à Vapeur des 3 Vallées (CFV3V), has an impressive collection of tank engines and passes through quaint, provincial scenery in southern Belgium. At the terminus in Treignes, deep in the hinterland, there is one of the country's most impressive railway museums, with a collection of national treasures, including flagship steam, diesel and electric locomotives. A site not to be missed during the layover at the terminus and a good way to wait, while the steam train takes water.
