Episode 2. The Idea That Never Gets Said Right now, in a meeting you are not in, someone on your team is sitting on the exact idea your organisation needs. And they are not going to say it. That line is Patricio Cuesta's, not ours, and it is where this episode starts. Patricio spent 30 years as a global C-suite executive, ending as president of an American public company. He now works where leadership, neuroscience and AI meet. He also found out at 50 that he is neurodivergent, after a career spent camouflaging it. "It was normal for me because I'm not normal." His argument is an uncomfortable one for most leaders. Psychological safety is not a feeling a team eventually arrives at. It is a system you design, and designing it is the job. "I don't have time for feedback. What the hell? That's your job." We also get into friction, and why the best ideas Patricio ever saw came from people who had barely finished school and why most people are using AI to offload cognition instead of potentiating it. In Confidently Creative? Sven Brodmerkel (PhD) and I interview original thinkers from all walks of life and ask them about creative confidence: what it is, why so few people seem to act on their creative instincts, and what makes the conditions around us either conducive or hostile to original thinking.
