There’s a tenderness to the last days in a place. You notice everything: the sound of the water, the way the light lingers. Our last days on New Zealand’s North Island. A gentle goodbye from the animals at our little farm stay, a waterfall in the last drop of light, one more afternoon of shells and seagulls by the sea, and a long, rocking crossing to the South Island. Somewhere on that water, we found ourselves in the in-between, and remembered what it means to be held.
