The Punisher is sitting in a parked van at four in the morning eating cold food out of a tin, a bruise from Tuesday still across his ribs. He's in his fifties, he has no powers, and everything that's happened to him has actually happened and stayed. Six reasons he shouldn't still be standing: an ageing body doing a young man's job, a repair system that never gets the sleep it runs on, injuries treated in back rooms with no follow-up, decades of scar tissue tearing in the same places, a heart stuck in emergency mode, and a grief that makes stopping unthinkable.
