Discover the story of the Bounty Boat with this scale model build, inspired by Captain Bligh’s epic 1789 voyage after the Mutiny on the HMS Bounty. This project combines accurate ship modeling, beginner-friendly techniques, and a detailed diorama recreating the boat’s arrival in Timor. Follow the build of my scale model of the Bounty Boat, the small vessel used by Captain William Bligh and his loyal crew after the Mutiny on the HMS Bounty in 1789. This legendary open-boat journey covered more than 6,700 km across the Pacific Ocean before reaching Timor. I’ve aimed to build this Bounty Boat as accurately as possible, making it a useful guide and inspiration for beginners in model ship building. Along the way, I share tips and techniques that can help new modelers improve their skills. This model is also part of a diorama, recreating the arrival of the Bounty Boat in Timor. To capture the realism of survival at sea, I weathered the boat and added details such as barrels, buckets, sleeping gear, hand towels, and even hidden ballast beneath the planks.
