Do you really need to buy a new driver every few years? I put 33 years of Callaway driver technology to the test using a Foresight GC3 launch monitor: 🏌️ 2026 Callaway Quantum Triple Diamond Max 🏌️ 2024 Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond 🏌️ 1993 Callaway Big Bertha I hit 10 shots with each driver using the same golfer, same ball, same simulator and same launch monitor. Then I removed the five worst shots from each driver and compared the five best-shot averages to see what happens when each driver is struck reasonably well. We compare: • Club speed • Ball speed • Smash factor • Launch angle • Spin rate • Carry distance • Total distance • Dispersion The real question isn't whether a modern driver beats something from 1993. It should. The question is by how much? And maybe more importantly: if you're already playing a premium driver that's only a few years old, does spending another $600–$700 actually buy you meaningful performance? The Big Bertha results made this test a lot more interesting than I expected.
