This Lafayette KT208 was an inexpensive 1960's RF Generator/Tracer to meet the needs of the novice electronics enthusiast. It covers 250Khz to 120Mhz in 5 Ranges. It has a continuously adjustable attenuator. It runs the signal either un-modulated or modulated from it's own internal source. It has an Audio Frequency input for signal tracing, and a built in amplifier / speaker to hear the traced signal. It has preamp outputs to pass the low level traced signal to external amplifiers. This unit has been tested and functions in decently in all aspects except on the 1st half of bands D and E. The signal is greatly reduced or not present there. Bands A through D utilize fundamental signals and a conventional Frequency Counter demonstrated the output frequency versus dialed frequency, and it performed quite well until the E and D bands. Band E utilizes harmonics of the D channel for it's output, so a spectrum analyzer was utilized to see the signals there. The KT208 contains 4 tubes, sockets, power transformer, audio choke, RF coil, variable Air Capacitor, power cord, Resistors and capacitors and a nice reusable case. The new owner could repair the problems on D and E band, or utilize the valuable parts for other projects. It also comes with the original build manual and documents as well as a full set of leads and probes.
