YOSHIKI CHANNEL will present a two-part live broadcast featuring coverage of the award ceremony, followed later that day by a live appearance from YOSHIKI with an update on his recent activities. The ceremony will mark YOSHIKI’s first public appearance since the cancellation of Global Citizen Festival 2026 in Central Park, New York, due to severe weather. YOSHIKI had been scheduled to become the first Japanese artist to perform at the festival. Part 1 will begin at 3:30 PM (Japan Time), with a live broadcast from the award ceremony at the International House of Japan in Tokyo. The Kaneko Award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the development of U.S.-Japan relations through longstanding grassroots efforts. YOSHIKI will receive the Special Award in recognition of approximately 34 years of contributions to musical and cultural exchange between Japan and the U.S., as well as his continued philanthropic efforts in both countries and around the world. On September 17, YOSHIKI received the International Citizens Award from the Japan America Society of Southern California. Together with the Special Award at the 6th Kaneko Award, the two honors recognize his longstanding contributions to U.S.-Japan relations from organizations on both sides of the Pacific. Part 2 will begin at 6:30 PM (Japan Time), with YOSHIKI appearing live from a studio in Tokyo. YOSHIKI is expected to speak in his own words about his recent condition following a period of recuperation, his current state of mind, and his upcoming activities. After attending the September 17 awards ceremony in Los Angeles, YOSHIKI experienced health issues and received medical evaluation and treatment in the U.S. He then rested under his doctor’s guidance before traveling to New York to prepare for his scheduled appearance at Global Citizen Festival 2026 on September 26. YOSHIKI had been scheduled to become the first Japanese artist to perform at the New York edition of the festival, where he was expected to lead an audience of approximately 60,000 in singing “ENDLESS RAIN.” However, the festival was canceled due to severe weather. Against this backdrop, the Kaneko Award Ceremony will highlight YOSHIKI’s longstanding efforts to connect Japan and the U.S. through music and philanthropy. YOSHIKI CHANNEL will follow YOSHIKI throughout the day, from the award ceremony to his live update later that evening. The broadcasts will be available on YouTube Membership (worldwide) and Niconico Channel (Japan). On YouTube, both a bilingual (EN/JP) stream with English voice-over interpretation and a Japanese-language stream will be available. Portions of the programs will also be available to the public on YouTube.
