Located in the county of Leicestershire, and around three miles southeast of central Leicester, is the town of Oadby. The town's name is Danish in origin, meaning 'Auði's village' in Old Norse. At its heart is the Parish Church of St Peter. This dates back to the 14th century, with extensive 19th century restoration. At the beginning of the 19th century, the population of Oadby was around 600. This would grow into a town of around 24,000 residents according to the latest census, with its proximity to Leicester being the major factor behind its expansion. The nearest railway stations to Oadby are South Wigston and Leicester, each around three miles away. The town is served by direct buses to and from Leicester, Northampton, Market Harborough and various other nearby locations. Famous people from Oadby include Queen bass guitarist John Deacon. 👇 SUBSCRIBE TO 4K EXPLORER FOR NEW VIDEOS EVERY WEEK 👇 https://www.youtube.com/4KExplorer?su...
