Artemisia - The Woman Who Commanded Ships for Xerxes — and Warned Him Not to Fight at Salamis

She was a woman in a world dominated by male rulers, male generals, and male warriors. Yet Artemisia did not merely survive inside that world. She commanded ships. She ruled territory. And the result was one of the most famous naval disasters in ancient history.
