Forfra / Send It took home Best Adventure Sport Film of the Year at the 2024 Nordic Adventure Film Festival — and it’s easy to see why. Now the film is out for anyone to watch. 🎬 Filmed and edited by Camilla Hylleberg. Shot on Sony A7S III with various lenses. 📍 Filmed around Denmark between November 2021 to November 2024. 💬 The movie is in Danish with English subtitles. "In the spring of 2020, Denmark — like everywhere else — closed. Gyms shut, offices emptied, and the only thing that still made sense was getting outside on two wheels. For a small, tight-knit group of women who ride mountain bikes together, that’s exactly what they did. Out of those rides came a film: Forfra / Send It. In Danish, forfra means starting over. Up ahead. From scratch. Paired with its English half, the title becomes a statement of intent — moving forward, embracing the unknown, sending it with confidence. Camilla Hylleberg built the whole film around that layered meaning: the seasons starting over, year after year, and the way every ride gives you the chance to start over too — clear your head, reset, go again. What began as a way to stay connected during lockdown became a visual love letter to the sport and the friendships it builds. Shot over three years, all around Denmark, Forfra / Send It follows the group through the country’s shifting landscapes — the crisp gold of autumn, the quiet stillness of winter, spring’s reawakening, summer’s long green light. Each season brings its own demands and its own rewards. The constant is the riding, and the people doing it together. Denmark’s women’s MTB scene is small, and that’s exactly its strength. Everyone more or less knows everyone. “If you want to ride, someone is always up for it,” as one rider in the film puts it. Age, experience, background — none of it matters once everyone’s rolling through the same root section in the rain. The film treats mountain biking as the great equalizer it can be. It’s also as much a mental pursuit as a physical one. “For me, mountain biking is meditation in motion,” one rider says. At its core, the film is an insight into the passion, community, and mental strength it takes to find your way back to playing — the way you did as a kid, before it needed a reason. The film doesn’t dwell on mistakes. It embodies its own title instead: look ahead, send it, stay present. Whether it’s leaves crunching under tires in autumn or soft light filtering through spring trees, every ride is a reset. Representation in mountain biking has come a long way, but there’s still ground to cover. Films like Forfra / Send It matter because they show the diversity, strength, and joy inside the women’s MTB community — and they pull others in to ride, and to find their own place in the sport. For the women in the film, this isn’t a hobby. It’s a lifestyle, a source of friendship, a way of engaging with the world."
