1989, NES. Rating: 4 out of 4 stars As with a few other video games, Tetris has gone beyond the world it inhabits and has become an icon. More than 35 years later, it's not hard to see why. A deceptively simple game involving seven pieces and the player trying to keep a shaft from filling to the top is full of mind-twisting the deeper you go. It becomes less of a game and more a reflection on your mental abilities and how you adjust. The NES version, along with its Game Boy counterpart, are the most well-known, and with good reason. The NES version keeps things simple and easy for any gamer to pick up. But try and let go if you dare. Games at their best are conceptually simple, but with endless replay value and depth.
