My heart grows quiet with them, As longing falls coldly within me. I whispered your name, While the hazy sky spoke to me, Asking how I’ve been. At the memory of your smile, A warmth stirs deep in my chest. On this rainy September afternoon, Within the hours I once shared with you, I follow the lingering scent you left behind, And draw your image once again. Though time has carried you far, And my heart cannot reach you anymore, I send it gently with the sound of rain. The longing reflected on a teacup Feels as distant as those days. The words I could not say Still circle inside of me. The wind taps gently on the glass, My heart rests there too. If I confess how I miss The warmth that’s grown so cold— Would you come back?
