The Activist Killed on Facebook Live: The Parminder Jhota Case

Parminder Singh Jhota, a 45-year-old anti-drug activist from Mansa, Punjab, lost his life in broad daylight on 13 October 2026 — while he was live on Facebook, questioning a chemist shop owner over the alleged sale of addictive drugs to an elderly man. What began as a one-man campaign against chemist shops turned into a statewide storm: a Punjab bandh, days of protest, the suspension of a DSP and a drug inspector, a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and finally a CBI probe. This is the full story of the Mansa activist, his father Bhim Singh's fight for justice, the four accused now in judicial custody, and the questions the CBI is trying to answer.
