Meloch Al Kol HaOlam Kulo (מלוך על כל העולם כולו), meaning “Reign over the entire world,” is a central prayer of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. This recording presents a historic setting by cantor and composer Pinchas Spector, known as Pinye Hazan, whose music became part of the Boyan Hasidic tradition in Eastern Europe. The prayer expresses a universal hope that all creation will recognize God’s sovereignty and unite in a shared awareness of the divine. Spector’s melody gives the Hebrew text a solemn and majestic character shaped by early twentieth-century Jewish sacred and cantorial music. For listeners exploring Rosh Hashanah music, Hebrew prayer, Jewish worship, Hasidic melodies, cantorial music and the spiritual heritage of Eastern European Jewish communities. Composer: Pinchas Spector, also spelled Pinchas Spektor Known as: Pinye Hazan, also spelled Pinye Chazan Hebrew: פנחס ספקטור, פיניע חזן Musical tradition: Boyan
