Pastor Ock Soo Park' Lectures on the Gospel of Mark Weekly Sermon Series on CTN Episode 13: Jesus Would Say the Same Thing to Me I am so happy to be speaking about Jesus. I am happy to be reading the Bible. The paralytic could not walk; he was bedridden. But he met Jesus. But the very happy thing is what Jesus said to the paralytic, "Thy sins be forgiven thee" Here, in Mark chapter 2, verse 5, "When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?" It's the same words of Jesus. I am so happy to be speaking about Jesus. Some accept those words, and there are many people that speak contrary to what the word says. This was true at the time of Jesus. The Bible is the word of God. The sixty-six books of the Bible were written by the hands of man to become the Bible. But all the people who wrote the Bible wrote it through inspiration from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, these are not the words of a man. This is the word of God. Everyone, who are we to talk back to the words of Jesus? Jesus does not lie. He is truthful. All we have to do is to accept the word of Jesus as it is. How did I come to know that the Bible is the true word of God? When my stomach hurt, I read the scripture. In Mark chapter 11 verse 24, it is written, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." The only one who can say such words in the world is Jesus. "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever." Whatever it may be. Whatever the problem is. No matter the circumstances. Pray before the Lord "After ye desire, Believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." The most important thing is, When you pray to Jesus, expecting that it shall be done. Jesus is telling us which is easier? "Son, thy sins be forgiven thee." I really envied this "son." I envied the woman taken in the act of adultery. She was taken in the act of adultery. She was supposed to be stoned to death. But she met Jesus. Neither do I condemn thee. Really, I envied the woman taken in the act of adultery. Even though she had sinned, she received the forgiveness of sins through Jesus. Back then, I was a sinner. Later on, I found out. If Jesus told the woman taken in adultery, "Thy sins be forgiven thee." If He says to the paralytic, "Thy sins be forgiven thee." Then he would say the same thing to the leper. Also, to the person with cancer. Also, to a person who committed theft. Before, I just envied the woman who was taken in the act of adultery because even though she committed adultery and she was supposed to be stoned to death, Jesus saved her. If Jesus tells her that she is forgiven, then she has received the forgiveness of sins. I, too, like the woman caught in adultery, wanted to hear from Jesus, "Ock Soo, thy sins be forgiven thee." But one day, while reading the Bible, an amazing thought came to mind. These are not words for the woman taken in the act of adultery. If Jesus spoke these words to the woman taken in the act of adultery, then he would say these words to the man stealing or to the person who fought, or he would speak them to the dirty sinner. The woman taken in adultery is one pronoun. I thought these words were words Jesus was saying to all of us. If Jesus forgave the sins of the woman of adultery, Even though I've committed lots of theft, even though I've told many lies, he would say the same thing to me. I was so happy.
