Despite Germany's relentless bombing of London, the cast of the Music Box Revue refuse to stop performing for their appreciative, yet war-weary, audiences. It's during one of these air raids that American showgirl Rosalind Bruce (Rita Hayworth) and RAF Squadron Leader Paul Lundy (Lee Bowman) meet and fall in love. When a secret mission calls Paul away unexpectedly, Rosalind is sure she's been abandoned -- until the pilot's father brings her a marriage proposal that she gladly accepts. While preparing to join Paul in Canada where he's been sent to train new pilots, the death of a good friend (Janet Blair) and her boyfriend in another bombing raid convinces Rosalind to stay in London to entertain the troops.
