The Surathali Waterfall, shaped like a pet in both its name and shape, flows along the beautiful Kalupahana and Belihuloya areas of Komaliya, enriching many fields, plantations, and forests. So, sources reveal that this Surathali waterfall, which is adorned with natural beauty, is also surrounded by many legends, just like the Yahalathenna Falls seen in the previous photo essay. So, you too will undoubtedly be able to see that beauty through this composition. Surathali Ella Falls is 60m in height, 2m wide and made up of three segments. It is named after a film that was shot in the area. It is more of a water-slip than a water-fall. Originating from the Sri Pada Reserve’s Ellamana mountain range (948m), the fall is created by the Kadawath River, which flows along Sabaragamuwa Uva and later into the Weli River. It is bordered by an untouched wildlife sanctuary. At the Mahaeliyakande there are certain soil crystals known as Sita Devi Guli, which resemble the rice used to make sweet meat, called Aggala. According to folklore, Sita Devi (Queen Sita) is said to have made sweetmeat here and spilled some of it, which is what remains at the site today. Another story has it that two villagers saw gold plates glittering in a cave, while on a jungle trek. They decided to retrieve the treasure and ventured inside the cave but as soon as they were inside, the stone door of the cave shut, barring their exit. They were allowed out only once they had acknowledged that the treasure belonged to King Walagamba. නමින් මෙන්ම හැඩයෙනද සුරතලියක් ලෙස හැඩ වුනු සුරතලී දිය ඇලි කොමලිය සුන්දර කලුපහන , බෙලිහුල්ඔය ප්‍රදේශයට මායිම්ව ගලා බසින්නේ කෙත් වතු වන ලැහැබවල් බොහෝමයක් සරුසාර කරමිනි. ඉතින් කලින් රූපරචනය තුලින් දකින්නට ලැබුන යහලතැන්න ඇල්ල මෙන්ම සොබාව සුන්දරත්වයෙන් අනූන මෙම සුරතලී දිය ඇල්ල ජනප්‍රවාද බොහෝමයක් සගවගෙන සිටිනු බවට මූලාශ්‍ර වලින් හෙලි වෙයි. ඉතින් මෙම රූපරචනයෙන් ඔයාලටත් ඒ සුන්දරත්වය බලා ගැනීමට හැකි වනු නොඅනුමානය. සුරතලි ඇල්ල දිය ඇල්ල උසින් මීටර් 60ක්, පළලින් මීටර් 2ක් වන අතර කොටස් තුනකින් සමන්විත වේ. එය එම ප්‍රදේශයේ රූගත කරන ලද චිත්‍රපටයකින් නම් කර ඇත. එය දිය ඇල්ලකට වඩා දිය ඇල්ලකි. ශ්‍රී පාද රක්ෂිතයේ එල්ලමන කඳු වැටියෙන් (මීටර් 948) ආරම්භ වන මෙම ඇල්ල සබරගමුව ඌව දිගේ ගලා ගොස් පසුව වැලි ගඟට ගලා යන කඩවත් ගඟෙන් නිර්මාණය වේ. එය ස්පර්ශ නොකළ වනජීවී අභයභූමියකින් මායිම් වේ. මහඑළියකන්දේ සීතා දේවි ගුලි ලෙස හඳුන්වන ඇතැම් පස් ස්ඵටික ඇති අතර ඒවා අග්ගලා ලෙස හඳුන්වන පැණි රස මස් සෑදීමට භාවිතා කරන සහල් වලට සමාන වේ. ජනප්‍රවාදයට අනුව, සීතා දේවිය (සීතා රැජින) මෙහි රසකැවිලි සාදා එයින් කොටසක් ඉසින ලද බව කියනු ලැබේ, එය අදටත් එම ස්ථානයේ පවතී. තවත් කතාවක සඳහන් වන්නේ, කැලෑ ගමනක යෙදී සිටියදී, ගම්වැසියන් දෙදෙනෙකු ගුහාවක රන් තහඩු දිලිසෙන ආකාරය දුටු බවයි. ඔවුන් නිධානය ලබා ගැනීමට තීරණය කර ගුහාව තුළට ගිය නමුත්, ඔවුන් ඇතුළට ගිය විගස, ගුහාවේ ගල් දොර වැසී ගිය අතර, ඔවුන්ට පිටවීම වළක්වන ලදී. නිධානය වළගම්බා රජුට අයත් බව පිළිගත් පසු පමණක් ඔවුන්ට පිටතට යාමට අවසර දෙන ලදී.
