Jacob A Powers Diablos 10U Past Monterey Bay Pirates in 8-0 Shutout Jacob A had a huge day at the plate Saturday, collecting three hits and launching a home run as Diablos 10U shut out Monterey Bay Pirates 10U, 8-0, at Manzanita Park. Jacob went a perfect 3-for-3, singling in the first inning, blasting a two-run home run to left field in the third, and adding another single in the fifth. Diablos struck first in the bottom of the opening inning when a passed ball brought home the game’s first run. Jacob then provided the power in the third, sending a two-run homer over the left-field fence to extend the lead to 3-0. Diablos broke the game open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jayden O singled home a run, Eduardo G delivered an RBI double, another run scored on a steal of home, and Ian P capped the rally with a two-run double to make it 8-0. Gio U was dominant on the mound, earning the win with five scoreless innings. Gio allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking only one. Diablos finished with 10 hits. Jacob and Ian each drove in two runs, while Ryan S went 2-for-2. The Diablos were also aggressive on the bases, piling up 10 stolen bases. Ryan, Jacob, Mikah G, and Ivan P each swiped multiple bags. The defense backed up Gio’s strong outing with a flawless performance, committing no errors. Ian led the team with six defensive chances. Dominic L, Levi B, and Luke M each recorded a hit for Monterey Bay Pirates, who also played error-free defense. It was a complete performance for Diablos 10U—10 hits, 10 stolen bases, no errors, and a five-inning shutout—with Jacob providing the big bat and Gio controlling the game from the mound.
