Four days diving Nusa Penida, Bali — and Crystal Bay lived up to its reputation. Cold thermoclines, sunlit reefs, and one unforgettable encounter with the Mola Mola. Crystal Bay sits right in the path of the Indonesian Throughflow, where deep water from the Lombok Strait pushes cold, nutrient-rich currents into the bay. That's what makes it one of the most unpredictable — and rewarding — dive sites in Bali. Some days you get glass-clear 28°C water. Other days it drops into the low 20s and the giants come up from the deep.
