Step aboard the USS Alabama (BB-60), one of America’s most impressive historic World War II battleships.
During my visit to Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama, I had the opportunity to explore this enormous ship and walk through its decks, corridors and historic spaces.
Commissioned in 1942, USS Alabama served during World War II in both the North Atlantic and the Pacific. At the height of the war, around 2,500 crew members lived and worked aboard this 680-foot battleship. The “Mighty A” was awarded nine Battle Stars for her World War II service.
Today, USS Alabama is preserved as a National Historic Landmark and museum ship in Mobile, giving visitors the chance to step aboard and experience what life was like on a WWII battleship.
In this video, come with me as I explore the USS Alabama and take a closer look at this fascinating piece of maritime history.
