Psalm 23 became more than a familiar passage of Scripture for me. I’ve watched the Lord lead, provide, comfort, restore, and carry me through circumstances I never could have handled on my own. From our years overseas as missionaries and moments when we had almost nothing, to unexpected answers to prayer and reminders that God was near, I’ve learned that “The Lord is my shepherd” is something we can actually live. But the hardest test of that belief came when our son Austin was killed by a drunk driver. For three years, I carried grief, anger, bitterness, and questions I couldn’t resolve. I knew the right biblical answers, but knowing them didn’t take away the pain. Eventually, God confronted something buried deep inside me: I needed to forgive Him for not protecting my son. What happened afterward became one of the most profound encounters with God’s healing and comfort I have ever experienced. In this message, I walk through Psalm 23 through the lens of provision, fear, grief, loss, healing, and the faithfulness of God. Whether you’re facing an empty bank account, an uncertain future, a burden you can’t put down, or grief you haven’t been able to move through, I want you to know the Shepherd is still walking with you. He leads. He restores. He comforts. He provides. And even in the valley of the shadow of death, He has not left you.
