"Disney's Magical Moments Parade" was the premier daytime procession marching down Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom in 2000. Originally debuting in 1996 as the Remember the Magic Parade for the resort's 25th Anniversary, it was retooled and renamed in 1998. By the year 2000, it had completely dropped its anniversary branding to focus purely on creating spontaneous, interactive "magical moments" for everyday park guests. Key Highlights • The "Stop-Action" Show Stops: The signature gimmick of the parade was its interactive street-theatre format. Over 100 performers and characters would march down the route until the music suddenly ground to a halt. Cast members ("parade coaches") would then invite pre-selected guests—especially children—out of the crowd and into the street to dance, play games, and form massive conga lines with the characters. • The Remixed Soundtrack: The parade retained its sweeping, incredibly catchy pop theme song, "Remember the Magic," but altered key sections for the post-anniversary era. For instance, the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah segment lyric was updated from "25 years of Disney magic" to "Remember the Disney magic." When the floats halted for a show stop, each unit dynamically switched to its film's own custom interactive theme music. • The Six Giant Floats: In 2000, the parade consisted of six elaborate, highly detailed units: • The Opening Castle: Stripped of its giant pink birthday cake overlay from 1996, this sparkling castle float featured royal dancers, Cinderella, and an 18-foot turret where Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy waved to the crowds. • The Little Mermaid: Ariel sat atop a vibrant coral backdrop accompanied by a spinning undersea conga line of fish and an Audio-Animatronic marine band. • Beauty and the Beast: Preceded by dancing chefs pushing serving carts, this float featured an Audio-Animatronic Lumiere and a grand staircase where Belle and the Beast danced. • Aladdin: Highlighted by a towering, giant inflatable Genie balloon hovercraft, with Aladdin and Jasmine riding below. • The Lion King: Anchored by detailed Audio-Animatronic figures of Simba, Pumbaa, Timon, and Zazu, flanked by African stilt-walkers. • The Grand Finale Garden: A massive garden-themed structure packed with classic characters. In the 2000 iteration, modern costume designs for Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Pinocchio, and Captain Hook walked alongside it.
