Starting in Shimo-Fukushima just after eight, the route turns east along the Dojima River — a brick path below street level, with the Umeda towers across the water — past the lit terraces of Nakanoshima Banks and under the elevated expressway. It crosses onto Nakanoshima, the island Osaka's merchants built four hundred years ago, and passes the red-brick Central Public Hall of 1918 standing floodlit and empty. From the park at the island's east end it crosses to Kitahama, turns south into the old merchant grid of Semba, and comes out on Midosuji for the last stretch back to Honmachi.
