🎼 Johann Sebastian Bach – Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 ✨ Follow the organ note by note: all three staves – right hand, left hand and pedal – scroll with the recording, and each note lights up the moment it is played. 📖 Probably the most famous organ piece ever written. It opens with a dramatic flourish high on the keyboard that plunges down to a thunderous chord in the pedals, followed by brilliant runs and echoes – a "toccata" is a piece meant to show off the player's touch. The fugue that follows builds a lively theme in four voices, passes it from hand to hand and down into the pedals, and finally breaks back into the free, stormy style of the opening for a grand ending. The work was copied by Bach's circle and is usually dated to his early years in Arnstadt or Weimar. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Toccata 2:36 Fugue 7:29 Finale (Recitativo – Adagissimo) 📜 LICENSE & CREDITS 🎵 Music: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) – Toccata and Fugue in D minor, BWV 565 🎹 Performer: Paul Pittman 🎧 Recording source: Musopen (musopen.org) ⚖️ Recording license: Public Domain Mark 1.0 (PDM 1.0) 📄 Score: Mutopia Project (mutopiaproject.org), after the Bach-Gesellschaft Edition (1867), placed in the public domain by the typesetter.
