How do I understand and teach Romans 5:1-11, 18-21

While We Were Still Sinners | Romans 5:1–11, 18–21 | Peace, Assurance, and the Reign of Grace How can you know that God still loves you when suffering comes, your faith feels weak, or your failures overwhelm you? In Romans 5, Paul reminds us that our peace with God rests not on our feelings, performance, or ability to remain faithful, but on the finished work of Jesus Christ. God demonstrated His love for us while we still lived as sinners and enemies. If Christ reconciled us to God through His death, how much more will His resurrection life secure our final salvation? In this Faithfully Entrusted Bible study, we explore three life-changing truths: Peace with God: Justification by faith grants believers a settled standing before God, regardless of changing circumstances. Assurance through Christ: The cross proves God's love, while Christ's continuing life guarantees the salvation of those who trust Him. The Reign of Grace: Adam's disobedience brought condemnation and death, but Christ's obedience brings righteousness and eternal life to everyone united to Him by faith. We also examine how God uses suffering to produce endurance, character, and hope, why grace always exceeds sin, and how believers can stop measuring God's acceptance by their own performance. BIG IDEA: Our assurance rests on Christ's finished work, not our fluctuating feelings. Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.
