In this walking tour, we explore Kraków early in the morning, as the summer sun rises and the city slowly comes to life. It's a great opportunity to experience the quiet streets of Podgórze and Kazimierz before they fill with people. Our walk begins at the beautiful St. Joseph's Church in Podgórze and takes us across the Vistula River to the historic district of Kazimierz. Along the way, we cross one of Kraków's most distinctive footbridges, visit historic squares and churches, and walk through a passage featured in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. We finish our walk at the famous Okrąglak, where you can try one of Kraków's most popular street foods – zapiekanka. With the warm light of the rising summer sun and the romantic atmosphere of the Father Bernatek Footbridge, where couples have traditionally left love locks, this is a perfect route for a peaceful morning walk through Kraków. ⛪ St. Joseph's Church – A beautiful Neo-Gothic church dominating Podgórze's Main Square, with its impressive brick façade and tall central tower making it one of the district's most recognizable landmarks. 🌉 Father Bernatek Footbridge – A pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting Podgórze with Kazimierz across the Vistula River. The bridge is known for its unusual acrobatic sculptures suspended above it and became a popular place for couples to attach love locks to its railings. 📍 Wolnica Square – Once the main square of the independent city of Kazimierz, today it is a quieter historic square surrounded by old buildings, cafés, and restaurants. ⛪ Corpus Christi Basilica – One of the most important medieval churches in Kazimierz, founded in the 14th century and combining impressive Gothic architecture with a richly decorated Baroque interior. 🎬 Schindler's List Passage – This atmospheric courtyard and passage on Józefa Street was used as a filming location in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List. Walking through it today, you can recognize the distinctive balconies and staircases seen in the film. 🥖 Okrąglak & Zapiekanki – Located in the heart of Plac Nowy, the round pavilion known as Okrąglak is famous for its zapiekanki – long, toasted baguettes traditionally topped with mushrooms, cheese, and a variety of other ingredients. It's a perfect place to finish the walk with one of Kraków's best-known street foods. Have you visited Podgórze or Kazimierz, or are you planning a trip to Kraków?
