I Never Thought He Would Do That!

Betrayal and broken trust can change the way you see relationships, family, and the people you love. In this episode of Under The Beautiful Banyan, I share a deeply personal story about my brother, betrayal, trust, and learning how to trust again without betraying myself. Sometimes the person you trust most is the person you never imagined could hurt you. I never thought he would do that. Until he did. In this episode, I talk about one of the deepest betrayals I've experienced and what it taught me about trust, relationships, forgiveness, and protecting my heart without closing it. Because you never really know what another person is capable of. But that doesn't mean you have to become incapable of trusting. You don't have to let what someone did to you determine how you show up in every relationship that comes after it. You don't have to punish new people for wounds someone else created. And you don't have to betray yourself in an attempt to protect yourself. Sometimes the hardest part of healing isn't forgiving the person who hurt you. It's deciding what you're going to believe about yourself, other people, and love after they did.
