I found a Hidden World Beneath This Appalachian Creek

I traveled into the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina to explore a beautiful mountain creek and see what was hiding beneath the surface. I got in the water and followed the creek through crystal-clear pools, rocky holes, calm rapids, and waterfalls with quiet stretches surrounded by Appalachian forest. Along the way, I came across all kinds of freshwater fish, aquatic wildlife, plants, and underwater habitats that most people walk right past without ever seeing. There’s something completely different about experiencing a mountain creek from beneath the water. Every pool, rock, rapid, and waterfall creates its own little ecosystem, and you never really know what you’re going to find until you dive in.
